Luke Kuzmish

less days than fingers
til Thanksgiving, the flag
ripples in the rain and the
wind. licking
my wounds, a disappointment
like the stray
cat we kept
fat with Tupperware
leftovers, lifeless
road side. every love
has its own
brand of pain,
a special salt
to teach us
of paper cuts concealed
in the busyness
of our fingers,
unremarkable.

Luke Kuzmish is the author of five collections of poetry. His latest collection  My Name Does Not Belong To Me was published by Weasel Press in 2020. Luke lives in Erie, Pennsylvania.
